If the appointments in the Console are scheduled with "neither" or originate in an external calendar, like Google, the system allows overlapping appointments and displays a message that there will be overlapping appointments. So, if you schedule vacation time with "neither" as setting, and then schedule a series of appointments with a client that overlaps the vacation time, the system will allow it. You would either need to delete individually the overlapping appointments in the series or schedule two separate series: one before the vacation time and another one after the vacation time. There is no other way.
