My clients get this error when they try to pay through my Console with PayPal: "The seller accepts encrypted website payments only. You cannot pay the seller through un-encrypted buttons. Please contact your seller for more details." Why is that?


The error is caused by a setting in your PayPal account. This is what you need to do to correct it:

  1. Log into your PayPal account and click on Profile (top of the page to the right).
  2. Click on My Selling Tools (in the menu to the left of the page).
  3. In the Selling Online section, search for Website Preferences and click on the Update link to the right.
  4. In the Website Payment Preferences, scroll down to the section Encrypted Website Payments and turn off the option “Block Non-encrypted Website Payment”.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and save the modification.
  6. Test again on the Console website the purchase of a product. It should work now.
